Bishop A. Donald Davies and his wife, Mabel

Our namesake, Bishop A. Donald Davies was consecrated the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas in June of 1970.

Bishop A. Donald DaviesIn l982 the Diocese of Dallas was divided into two jurisdictions: The Diocese of Dallas and the Diocese of Fort Worth. It was then that Bishop Davies became the first Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth.

In 1989 .Bishop Davies was named the Bishop of the American Churches in Europe.  During this time, he and his wife, Mabel, made Paris, France their home base.

The Bishop Davies Nursing Center was one of the Diocesan Institutions that was established during the Bishop's twelve-year tenure in Dallas. The Nursing Center, located in Hurst, Texas, opened with facilities for 100 patients adjacent to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Currently, Bishop Davies lives in Hurst, Texas and his wife, Mabel is a resident at the Bishop Davies Nursing Center where he visits her daily.

Bishop Davies celebrated his 90th birthday with a party at the nursing center.
