Yolanda Henley, Charge Nurse

Yolanda HenleyYolanda Henley works as a Charge Nurse in the Rehabilitation Unit and has been employed at Bishop Davies Nursing Center for eleven years. Yolanda works with patients in a rehabilitative capacity and performs treatments necessary to help them recover from injuries and illness. In addition, Yolanda admits residents to inpatient rehabilitation and works as a liaison between the resident, their doctor, and their family to coordinate care.

Yolanda’s motivation to do well comes from the residents that she works with, and she truly enjoys seeing people progress through their rehabilitation process. Always encouraging to her patients, Yolanda’s motto is “We take baby steps, big steps, and then out the door you go.”

When guiding new residents and their families through the admissions process, Yolanda understands the fear associated with entering a nursing home and how it can be a very hard transition, for not only the resident, but their family as well. She says that it feels good to dispel the long thought truth about nursing homes being a place where people come to pass away, and to each person she says, “Residents do not come here to die, they come here to live.”

Yolanda is the mother of two grown children, David and Jennifer, and has one grandson named Tristan. In her free time, she enjoys reading mystery books and cross-stitching.
