Connie Jackson, Environmental Aide
Connie Jackson works in our Environmental Services department as a Housekeeping Aide. A valued member of our staff for three years, Connie is always full of energy and laughter. Her housekeeping duties include cleaning resident’s rooms, sweeping, mopping, dusting, changing linens, and washing walls and windows. Connie takes great pride in her work, and the plaques awarded to her for “Housekeeper of the Year” that line the walls of her home.
The aspects of Connie’s job that she enjoys the most are not part of her official job description. She has found that interacting with the nursing home residents and getting to know them are her favorite part of her work day. In fact, Connie enjoys this part of her work so much that she has said, “You can be in the middle of a bad day and one conversation with a resident will make you forget all about it.” Connie feels that this interaction is an essential part of her duties as a housekeeper because she is in the residents rooms several times each day and has ample opportunity to get to know them.
Connie is a Texas native, and has lived in the Dallas area since moving from Corsicana as a child. She is married to Roland and has four children, Latrice, Shanice, Darien, and Koesha. Connie also has her hands full with four dogs, one python snake, and one iguana. In her free time, Connie enjoys spending time with her children, playing volleyball, and watching the Dallas Cowboys football games.
When asked what motivates her to do a good job, Connie replied, “I lost my Grandmother and Grandfather, so taking care of someone else’s makes me very happy.”
