What should I bring to the nursing home?

It is important to remember that the nursing facility is your loved one’s new home. We encourage you to bring items that will make this transition as easy as possible. The resident should have an adequate amount of clothes, shoes and undergarments appropriate for the seasons. Toiletries are also important. Residents may contact the local telephone and television companies for service. Telephone and cable services are not included in the daily room rate. Pictures and other personal items add a nice touch.

The family should bring a laundry hamper if they intend to do the resident’s laundry. However, laundry services are provided at no additional charge. All clothing should be clearly marked with the resident’s full name regardless of who is doing the laundry.
